Class Levels
Age ranges are suggested. The required skills take priority over age when passing through levels. Maturity and behavior of child are taken into consideration for passing to next level. For more information, please contact the Aquatics Team Lead at your club. |
Parent/Tot • 30 Minutes
Parent must accompany child in the water. Children will learn to adjust to the water and do supported movements. The swim instructor will provide games, songs and activities to engage learning through fun.
Age range: 0-3 years old
Preschool • 30 Minutes
A step up from Parent/Tot. Parents are not required to accompany child in the water. Children will learn water exploration and basic movements to introduce swim techniques (floating, kicking, arm actions, opening eyes underwater)
Max: 4-5 participants.
Age Range: 2-5 years old
Preschool Plus • 30 Minutes
Parents are not required to accompany children. Children will learn independent movements and basic strokes to prepare for Level 1.
Max: 4-5 participants.
Age Range: 3-6 years old
Level 1 - Water Exploration • 40 Minutes
Children will learn face submersion, unsupported floating, kicking and safety. Children must meet specific exit skills before moving on to Level 2.
Max: 4-6 participants.
Age requirement: Minimum 4 years old
Level 2 - Primary Skills • 40 Minutes
Children will gain increased independence, learn rhythmic breathing, back crawl and turning over. Children must meet specific exit skills before moving on to Level 3.
Max: 6 participants.
Age requirement: Minimum 5 years old
Level 3 - Stroke Readiness • 40 Minutes
Children will improve front crawl, elementary backstroke, treading water and learn breast stroke. Children must meet specific exit skills before moving on to Level 4.
Max: 6-8 participants.
Age requirement: Minimum 5 years old
Level 4 – Stroke Development • 40 Minutes
Children will learn butterfly, sidestroke, turns at the wall and increased endurance. Children must meet specific exit skills before moving on to Swim Club.
Max: 6-8 participants.
Age requirement: Minimum 5 years old
Swim Club • 60 Minutes
Our WAC Swim Club is for advanced swimmers needing to improve their endurance and stroke development. In this non-competitive environment, children will work on a variety of drills. Children must complete Level 4 or pass an instructor-led test for admittance. Class may take place in the lap pool.
Age Range: Dependent on skill level
Adaptive Swim Lessons • 40 Minutes
In this class designed for students with special needs, parents and students will work with the instructor to learn basic swimming and safety skills in the water.
Age Range: Flexible - should be discussed prior to registration with the Aquatics Team Lead
